How much can you make on airdrops alone? Is it even worth participating? Where can you find such opportunities early enough?
I will try to answer those questions and introduce you to some potential opportunities for future airdrops.
The crypto world is evolving faster than ever and with it come many creative ways to make your project stand out from the many. One way to achieve that is giving away coins and tokens of the project to its supporters for free. There are various kinds of give-aways — in its earliest days we simply called it bounty campaigns (mostly announced in bitcointalk.org and bounty0x), others did Proof of Caring and some projects decided to cancel their ICO and simply give away tokens for free.
How much can you get in an Airdrop?
A great example of a strong project with a valuable airdrop is Apollo. The team offered many different ways to earn some free Apollo tokens such as a refer-a-friend scheme for their telegram community. With that you were able to earn around $40 in free APL.
If you multiply that with the project’s current market price this is around $70 and could easily turn into $300 once their mainnet is live. If you live in Thailand that’s already a free month of living right there.
But Apollo was not a one of a kind opportunity. A recently announced airdrop comes from DFINITY. The team announced a token giveaway of up to 2500CHF worth of tokens to you! All you had to do for that is be on their mailing list early enough — long before anyone talked about any airdrop. Imagine the project doing well on exchanges — which it might very likely do — and those 2500CHF could turn into 15.000CHF quickly. Now we’re already talking about a few months of living in most parts of the world!
The same goes for Ontology. This airdrop was worth around 2 months of living for free in Thailand — or around $600 — certainly enough to make a small effort to join the airdrop. However the initial value has now turned into a stash worth around $9.000!
So what do you need to do to be part of the next upcoming opportunities?
There are many websites claiming to alert you on upcoming airdrops. Unfortunately many of those projects are completely worthless and might even steal and sell your data.
The DFINITY story above shows that once an airdrop is announced it might already be too late. Instead you should start following interesting projects as early as possible:
1. Join their Telegram (and announcements channel if there’s one)
2. Join their mailing list
3. Follow the project on Twitter, Medium and Facebook
4. Get connected — join telegram channels related to ICOs such as Ian Balina, OhHeyMatty and ICOdrops.
Often someone shares some great opportunities in those channels.
Where can you make money next?
One high value project you should have an eye on is Emotiq. The team said they won’t have a public ICO since they have no trouble raising the money in private rounds. Yet they will want to build their community up, which works great with airdrops. While it’s only a rumour echoed in some of the mentioned groups it might be well worth it to join their telegram channel already and start following their project.
Another great opportunity ahead is Mainframe. They got creative and are doing a physical airdrop of 1 million USD! This is certainly a great way of generating a lot of attention.
Here is a guide on how to start earning money with Airdrops.
Micro jobs are small tasks that can be completed for small amounts of Bitcoin. Websites such as Coinworker offer such tasks, which may involve simply testing a plugin to see if it is successfully compatible with a browser, or just retweeting a post. Again, the money is small but there is potential to earn a little bit more than the faucets of PTC websites.
To start you will need an account for Twitter / BitcoinTalk / Telegram / MyEtherWallet / EtherDelta & Facebook for some airdrops. It's a bit much at start, but once you have everything ready, you can do dozens of airdrops every week.
BitcoinTalk account : https://bitcointalk.org/ --
You will need a BitcoinTalk account to take part to most of the airdrops. It's the biggest forum about Bitcoin and crypto-currencies with a lot of informations and opportunities on this website.
Twitter account / Facebook account/ Telegram account: --
For the airdrops, you will also need a Twitter account, a facebook account and a Telegram account :
Most airdrops want you to market their coins for them and by such they give you good amount of coins when you can market via your social media accounts. On telegram, you have to search for their Bot name and also join their community. These also give you opputurnity to get informations about their offers and also if there is any increase in coin or not. You can also know the numbers of people attached to the coin giving you hope for a brighter day ahead.
Some airdrop:
@ Coinairdrop
@ Airdropalertcom
@ GwenSarah1
@ Rourouuu13
@ Winbitcoinsnow
@ Coin_coincoin
The airdrops will often ask you to follow their Twitter account and to retweet one of their tweet.
Create a MyEtherWallet address : https://www.myetherwallet.com/ --
You will need a Ethereum address to receive your airdrops. I like to use MyEtherWallet, on which you can receive all the airdrops with Ethereum based Tokens.
Create your address and keep you private key in a safe place (Never ever share your private key to someone).
You will need to send at least 0.01 Ethereum on you wallet. This will be used to pay the transaction fees to send your Tokens to an Exchange (like EtherDelta).
Use EtherScan to see your balance : https://etherscan.io/ --
You can use EtherScan to see the balance of your Ethereum account. You can see how much you got in Ethereum and the other Tokens you have on this address.
You just have to enter you Ethereum adress in the search bar in the top right of the website.
If you receive new tokens, you will se a little button with "View Tokens" on the write side. Click on it to see them.
Once you receive your Tokens and you can see them on EtherScan, click on the Token you want to send to see the informations of the Token.
What we need is :
-Contract adress : Top right "Contract address"
-Symbol : On the left "Token Balance", you can see the amount of Tokens and the symbol (Example : 1,000 OMG - OMG is the symbol)
-Decimals : On the right "Tokens Decimals"
Create an EtherDelta account to sell the airdrops : https://etherdelta.com/ --
If you would like to sell your airdrops, they are often avaible for trading at first on EtherDelta.
EtherDelta is a decentralized exchange, that means you will not need to register in here. You address and private key will be given to you directly, save them or write them down somewhere.
You will also need a little amount (minimum 0.001 Ethereum) on EtherDelta to pay transaction fees.
EtherDelta looks a bit hard to understand at first, but once you get it, it's really simple to use.
You can choose on the top of the website the currency you want to trade in the list, or if you go to the bottom of the list, you can find "Others". Click on it and put the informations (Contract adress / Symbol / Decimals) to see the Token you want.
There are 2 lines and 2 columns top left with you balance (0.000 at start)
The top line is for the token you want to trade, the bottom one is for Ethereum.
The left column is your address (where you can send your tokens from or to MyEtherWallet), and the right one the EtherDelta smart contract (Where you can buy & sell your tokens)
To send Ethereum or Tokens from your address to the smart contract, use "Deposit". To withdraw Ethereum or Tokens from the smart contract to your address, use "Withdraw". To transfer Ethereum or Tokens from your wallet to another wallet (like your MyEtherWallet for example), use "Transfer"..
Provide Bitcoin-related services
When it comes to cryptocurrency, if your level of expertise is more on the technical side rather than the writing side, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved in cryptocurrency development projects. Most of the companies currently operating in the cryptocurrency industry are start-ups with limited infrastructure in place. Therefore, they often need everything from software developers to web developers to mining experts to online marketers. Depending on the size of the startup a role such as this can vary from being a contracting job that can be completed remotely, or alternatively could be a full-time job. The amount that can be earned from a role such as this is obviously dependent on the type of role, the level of expertise that you bring to the role and the number of hours that you will be dedicating to the role. You can find more explanations to EtherDelta here : https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@minerksta/how-to-use-etherdelta-with-screenshots
Send Tokens from MyEtherWallet to an Exchange --
When you are on MyEtherWallet, click on "Send Ether & Tokens" and enter your private key or use the file you downloaded to access your account.
Bottom right you can find "Add custom Token". Enter the informations you found on EtherDelta (Contract address / Symbol / Decimals) an "Save".
The airdrops will ask you sometimes to follow them on Twitter/Facebook and to retweet/share their posts, to join their Telegram/Discord or to answer on their BitcoinTalk thread.
You just have to sell your Tokens on EtherDelta (or another exchange) if you want to change them to Ethereum.
Then you can send your Ethereum to another exchange to change it to Dollars, Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency.
You are now ready to start with airdrops !
Some tips to stay safe :
Create a new e-mail address for Airdrops or use one where you have nothing important on it.
Note all your informations on a paper : Username / Ethereum address / ID / Private key and keep it safe !
Never give your private key to somebody (Some Airdrops ask for private key : they are scams)
Be careful about the airdrops who have their own wallet, you will have to download it (Who knows what you are downloading)
Some airdrops ask for paying them a little amount (often 0.001 ETH). They are not airdrops ! Airdrop is always free.
I hope this will help people who want to do airdrops but don't know where to start :)
